Inolvidable

2022
Directed by Kiki Chavez

Latinx Play Project

When Jeni’s estranged deadbeat mom, Diana, comes back into her life, Jeni leaves her Tia Celia heartbroken and with an empty home. At the same time, Maria José unknowingly sneaks into a gay bar, El Noa Noa, after an argument with her long term boyfriend, Andres. Here, Jeni and Maria José meet for the first time and embark on a challenging romance all while el divo, Juan Gabriel, looks over them as their guardian angel.
JENI: Fem-Juanga-based looks. Loves suits, the 70s, and being colorful.

MARIA JOSÉ: Conservative church girl. Prim, proper, vintage, and graceful. Femme pinks and reds.

JUANGA: El Divo himself. Glamorous, flashy, outfits are all homages to real Juan Gabriel stylings.

TIA CELIA: One look at her and we all see our latina mama. Aprons, chanclas, humble, and homey.

DIANA: “Evil stepmother” hues and silouhettes but toned into a middle aged woman who has never really grown up.

ANDRES: Conservative church boy. Muted color scheme, grounded, conventional.

Production for INOLVIDABLE suddenly came to a halt in March 2020 with the unfolding of COVID-19. Latinx Play Project (LPP) decided to pick the musical up again come 2022. The original designs from 2020, including the likeness of the 2020 cast, as seen here.
