Last Stop: In-Between
2023
Directed and written by Rodrigo Correia
Halycon Immersive at the Hollywood Fringe Festival.
Welcome, souls, to the last stop before the afterlife. The residents of the In-Between will kindly, or not so kindly, guide you on your passageway. Choose wisely how you want to spend your last hour as the sands of time funnel through the glass. You might have the chance to reassess your earthly presence, connect with a loved one, or make plans for your unknown future. Here you stay until your time runs out, but for you to proceed, a change is required.

FAEY: Child-like, mischevious fairy. Leafy touches, light-up skirt to play with turning on/off in the dark set.
GITANA: Dark, reflective fabrics and accessories. Deliberate decision to abandon the “gypsy” image and instead adopt a metaphorical interpretation of the spiritual archetype; a “mirror reflection” of yourself to be seen on her.
SUIT: As the one most attached to his earthly existence, he is the most grounded in his apparel. Oversized suit, stacked ties a metaphorical allegory of him choking himself out with his own greed.
VOLUPIA: Demi-goddess of love, her Greecian roots shine through. Plays with texture and luxury.
CHAMELEON: White canvas, gender neutral. As blank as possible to “blend” into their surroundings (projections), mobility prioitized for their animalistic, abstract movements throughout their performance.
MATRIARCH: Homey with a touch of formality. Warm, sepia tones, reminiscent of an old aged photograph. Nostalgic and visually welcoming.
ALCHEMIST: Camp, flashy, dramatic. Haute couture, glamorized scientist with a rock-and-roll edge.
ELEGI: Elegant, refined. A timeless mourning wife. Careful to sidestep having her seem ghostly or dated.
Each character was assigned a color (their names color coded accordingly in the descriptions above).
